KUCHING: Petroleum Sarawak Berhad (PETROS) fulfilled its corporate zakat responsibility with an imbursement of RM1 million to Tabung Baitulmal Sarawak, supporting programmes that benefit communities across
the state.
In a statement on Friday, it said the zakat was presented by PETROS Chairman Tan Sri Datuk Amar (Dr) Hamid Bugo to General Manager of Tabung Baitulmal Sarawak Datu Abang Mohd Shibli Abang Mohd Nailie.
Tan Sri Hamid said this reflects the company’s continued commitment to supporting communities across Sarawak.
“The spirit of Ramadhan reminds us of the importance of compassion and generosity.
“Through zakat, we hope these programmes will provide meaningful assistance to those who require it most,” he added.
Also present at the handover were PETROS Senior Vice President for Human Capital, Corporate Relations and Services Ismail Said, and Tabung Baitulmal Sarawak Head of Operations Sector Ustaz Mohd Yusree Mohd Zain.
“Corporate zakat plays an important role in supporting programmes that assist communities in need across Sarawak.
“It reflects a shared commitment to uplift those facing hardship, while reinforcing the
values of compassion, solidarity and generosity that are central to the spirit of Ramadhan,” PETROS said.
