Plaza Merdeka Celebrates Orphans & Asnaf Through “Kamboh Eh Raya Celebration”
KUCHING: Plaza Merdeka’s “Kamboh Eh Raya Celebration” programme served as a meaningful platform to enliven the spirit of Ramadan, as orphans and members of the asnaf community were also honoured in an atmosphere filled with warmth, compassion, and togetherness at Plaza Merdeka here on Saturday.
Minister for Women, Early Childhood and Community Wellbeing Development, Dato Sri Fatimah Abdullah, said that organising such a programme not only provides an opportunity for the community to break fast together, but also acts as a platform to share blessings, joy, and care with those in need.
According to her, Ramadan is not merely a month to abstain from food and drink, but also a time that nurtures values of patience, sincerity, and compassion towards fellow human beings.
She said programmes of this nature are highly significant as they reflect the spirit of togetherness within a caring society that is always ready to extend assistance to those less fortunate, particularly as the celebration of Aidilfitri approaches.
At the same time, she added that Ramadan also serves as an important avenue for strengthening unity within Sarawak’s multicultural society, founded on values of mutual respect, tolerance, and a strong sense of belonging that continues to be preserved.
She also expressed her appreciation to Plaza Merdeka, particularly Dato Steve Ng and Datin Anriza Wong Cordero, for their concern and generosity in reaching out to orphans and members of the asnaf community throughout this blessed month.
She added that such noble efforts should serve as an example for more parties, especially those in the corporate and private sectors, to work together in implementing corporate social responsibility initiatives aimed at empowering communities and assisting those in need.
She believes that close cooperation between the government, the private sector, and the wider community can help build a more caring, inclusive, and prosperous society.
The programme also conveyed the message that the joy and festivity of Ramadan and Syawal should be shared with all segments of society, ensuring that no one is left behind in experiencing the happiness of the celebrations. -UKASnews
