Great British Circus Back For Kuching Tour From 20 March To 26 April
KUCHING: Sarawak will once again play host to the Great British Circus as the international troupe returns to entertain visitors with its latest tour at Dataran Perayaan Petra Jaya here from 20 March to 26 April.
Minister for Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, said the return of the internationally acclaimed show demonstrates organisers’ confidence in Sarawak as an emerging hub for arts, entertainment, and tourism.
He noted that the Great British Circus, which staged performances in Sarawak in 2024, drew an overwhelming response, attracting approximately 40,000 spectators across three venues.
He highlighted that the Great British Circus’ comeback to Sarawak not only to offer family-friendly entertainment but also to give children and the public a rare chance to experience live shows.
“The international circus’ return to various locations in Sarawak underscores this state’s status as an emerging arts and entertainment hub and reflects organisers’ confidence in Sarawak as a venue for world-class performances.”he said.
He made the remarks during a press conference for the Great British Circus at Baitulmakmur II Building here on Monday.
Dato Sri Abdul Karim also encouraged the public to bring their children and families to enjoy the performance as a form of quality entertainment that offers a unique experience.
He added that Dataran Perayaan Petra Jaya was chosen as the venue because it offers a spacious area, ample parking, and is suitable for family visits.
“The performance is expected to draw visitors from outside Sarawak, including Brunei, Indonesia, and West Kalimantan, especially during the Hari Raya Aidilfitri holidays, while bringing significant benefits to the local economy,” he opined.
Meanwhile, the organisers announced that the 2026 edition of the Great British Circus will showcase a fresh concept centred on a pirate quest to the deep sea in search of treasure, with appearances by mystical creatures and mermaids.
The two-hour performance is expected to deliver a vibrant family entertainment experience, combining elements of comedy, daredevil stunts, acrobatics, dance, and water stage performances by an international cast of artists.
