Sarawak DUN Passes Supplementary Supply (2025) Bill, 2026
KUCHING: The Sarawak Legislative Assembly (DUN) has approved the Supplementary Supply (2025) Bill, 2026, involving an additional expenditure of RM167,808,725 to ensure the continuity of government service delivery and the smooth implementation of the state's development agenda.
The approval was reached during the 19th Sarawak DUN sitting on Thursday, enabling the state government to cover the expenditure requirements of ministries and departments that were either not allocated for or were insufficient in the 2025 Budget Estimates.
Earlier, Sarawak Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas tabled the bill for its second reading, explaining that the additional allocation is required to cover the costs of various services already implemented by government agencies.
“This supplementary allocation is to ensure all government services can continue smoothly without affecting delivery to the people,” he said.
The Second Minister for Finance and New Economy added that the supplementary expenditure covers various service requirements under ministries and departments as detailed in the related Order Paper.
Meanwhile, the Sarawak DUN also approved a motion to refer the Second Supplementary Development Expenditure Estimates 2025 to the Committee of Supply involving an allocation of RM26,089,146.
The allocation involves 51 sub-activities and 73 sub-sub-activities funded through internal savings and the state government’s contingency reserves.
Of the total amount, special projects received the largest allocation exceeding RM17.7 million, followed by K-Society development initiatives amounting to more than RM6.38 million.
Allocations were also channelled towards land and river infrastructure, government and public buildings, utilities, industrial development, local authorities and housing, as well as the tourism, agriculture, natural resources and environment, drainage and irrigation, and transportation sectors.
Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah said the move reflects the Sarawak Government’s continued commitment towards ensuring the state’s development agenda remains comprehensive, sustainable and responsive to the current needs of the people. -UKASnews
