KUCHING: The Institution of Engineers, Malaysia (IEM) Sarawak recorded a strong turnout of 237 attendees at its 57th Annual General Meeting (AGM) held on Saturday, reflecting the continued confidence and support of the engineering fraternity in Sarawak.
Ir Dr Angelia Liew was re-elected as Chairman of IEM Sarawak for the 2026/2027 term, providing continuity in leadership as the IEM Sarawak moves into another important year of professional development and strategic engagement.
During the AGM, which was also attended by IEM Deputy President, Ir. Yau Chau Fong, members reflected on a productive 2025/2026 term, which saw several key achievements, including the successful hosting of the National Summit (NATSUM), IEM Sarawak emerging as *overall champion at the Inter-Professional Games (IPG), a record turnout at the IEM Run, and a well-supported Annual Dinner.
Looking ahead, a major focus for the coming term will be FEIAP 2026 — the Federation of Engineering Institutions of Asia and the Pacific, which will be hosted in Kuching from 2 to 4 September 2026.
The event is expected to bring together engineering institutions, professionals, industry leaders, and young talents from across the Asia-Pacific region through three main components: 34th FEIAP General Assembly, World Engineering Congress and Exhibition, and Youth Talent and Innovation Competition.
The hosting of FEIAP 2026 is expected to further position Sarawak as a regional platform for engineering excellence, collaboration, and innovation.
Under the continued leadership of Ir. Dr. Angelia, IEM Sarawak will continue to strengthen professional development initiatives, support young engineers, and deepen collaboration with industry, academia, and public agencies. - UKASnews
