Mental Health Workshop Promotes Awareness & Practical Daily Wellbeing
BINTULU: Public awareness of mental health has risen significantly in recent years.
However, many, particularly youths and young professionals, still lack proper exposure and education on managing mental wellbeing effectively.
Recognising this gap, the RAKAN Sarawak Destiny Movers Bintulu 2026 workshop, themed “Unmask the Mind to Thrive and Flourish,” was held on April 18 at Dewan Premier, Maktab Rendah Sains MARA (MRSM) Bintulu.
In a statement on Wednesday, it said the programme aimed to translate mental health awareness into daily practice.
A total of 91 participants comprising students from secondary schools, technical training centres and public higher education institutions in Bintulu attended the workshop, which emphasised practical, action-oriented approaches.
Participants represented several institutions, including MRSM Bintulu, SMK Kemena, SMK Bintulu, TVETMARA Bintulu, Kolej Vokasional Bintulu, Universiti Putra Malaysia Sarawak and ADTEC JTM Kampus Bintulu.
The workshop opened with a talk on depression and stigma by psychiatrist Dr Muhammad Adeeb from Hospital Bintulu, representing MENTARI Bintulu.
This was followed by an interactive session featuring a 20-minute video clip from the psychological horror film Azimat, produced by Faradale Media-M Sdn Bhd, which also organised the programme.
Using the film’s narrative as a reflective framework, participants were guided to shift from seeking external solutions to building internal resilience.
The statement added the workshop focused on three core pillars, Human Spectrum, Language Matters and Mental Fitness, equipping participants with practical tools such as box breathing and grounding techniques to manage stress and regulate emotions. -UKASnews
