Lawas IAC Monitoring Visit Strengthens Government Service Delivery
LAWAS: Efforts to enhance the delivery system of government services in northern Sarawak are being intensified through the implementation of the Lawas Integrated Administrative Centre (IAC) project which is anticipated to provide comprehensive facilities to the people.
Deputy Minister in the Sarawak Premier’s Department (Labour, Immigration and Project Monitoring) and Mulu Assemblyman Datuk Gerawat Gala stated that the Lawas IAC project constitutes a strategic initiative by the Sarawak Government to establish an integrated administrative centre accommodating various government departments and agencies under a single roof.
“Once implemented, the project will spare the public from having to visit multiple offices, allowing them to access government services more easily, quickly and in a more organised way,” he said during a monitoring visit to the proposed site on Wednesday.
The purpose of the visit was to examine the current condition of the site as well as to ensure that all project development plans are carried out in compliance with the prescribed specifications and timeline.
He pointed out that beyond benefiting the public, the centre is also expected to boost public sector efficiency by creating a more modern and comfortable working environment.
Concurrently, he stated that the project is anticipated to generate positive impacts on the local socio-economic landscape while also possessing the potential to act as a catalyst for more organised urban development in Lawas.
“Monitoring visits of this nature are essential to ensure that all development projects are implemented with due diligence, achieve their intended objectives and provide direct benefits to the people,” he added.
He further underscored the Sarawak Government’s sustained commitment to enhancing infrastructure development and public amenities throughout the state including the northern region in order to ensure more balanced, inclusive and sustainable development.
