Nine Mosque & Surau Projects In Lawas Receive Prime Minister’s Special Funding
LAWAS: Efforts to strengthen religious infrastructure are ongoing with nine mosques and suraus in the district receiving a total allocation of RM0.95 million under the Prime Minister’s special fund for upgrades and repairs.
The event was officiated by Sarawak State Development Office Director Dato Jasni Jubli at Masjid Sundar on Wednesday.
In his speech, he emphasised that each project is implemented based on actual needs on the ground, taking into account the views of mosque and surau management.
“The scope of work is defined according to the genuine requirements of the management to ensure that the project implemented provides comprehensive benefits to the community,” he stated.
The projects are seen as enhancing the comfort of the local community in their religious activities while also reinforcing the role of mosques and suraus as centres of community unity.
A programme for the issuance of offer letters to contractors and the formal handover of the project site was organised to accelerate implementation and to ensure that the project is completed within the designated timeframe.
Dato Jasni also highlighted that urgent and critical projects will take precedence while the remaining projects will proceed according to the sequence of applications submitted.
Among the projects involved are the upgrading of Masjid Besar Sundar, the refurbishment of Surau Al-Qardawi in Kampung Sualai as well as several other projects in Merapok, Trusan, and Kuala Lawas with allocations ranging from RM50,000 to RM200,000 per project.
This initiative reflects the government’s ongoing commitment to ensuring that religious infrastructure development is carried out in a planned and effective manner, thereby providing long-term benefits to the wellbeing of the locals. -UKASnews
