Community Preparedness Key To Navigating Rapid Development
SEMOP: Residents here have been urged to remain prepared in facing the rapid pace of development to ensure its benefits are shared across the community.
Deputy Minister in the Sarawak Premier's Department (Corporate Affairs, Information and UKAS) Datuk Abdullah Saidol said various development projects have been planned and implemented to boost the socio-economic growth of the area.
"Among the main projects expected to bring significant impact are the Batang Paloh Bridge, Pulau Bruit Community Hall, Semop Mosque, farmers' market, food court and shoplots," he said.
He said this at the 2026 Ramah Tamah Aidilfitri event jointly organised by the Semop Constituency Service Centre and the Tanjung Manis Parliamentary Service Centre at Kampung Kut, Daro, on Monday.
The Semop Assemblyman added that over RM9 million has been allocated for projects in three villages, namely Kampung Semop, Kampung Saai and Kampung Kut, which have now been completed and handed over.
Meanwhile, Tanjung Manis Member of Parliament Dato Ir Yusuf Abdul Wahab congratulated students from Pulau Bruit who achieved excellent results in the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) examination announced last week, describing their success as a source of pride for their families and the local community.
He also advised residents to practise prudent spending in light of current economic conditions, which have been somewhat affected by global uncertainties.
The event was enlivened with various interesting activities including the presentation of duit raya to children and lucky draws offering prizes such as electrical appliances and kitchenware.
A welcome dance performance by village youths and children also added to the festivities, reflecting the spirit of togetherness of the local community. -UKASnews
