Sarawakku Sayang Programme 2026 Begins In Limbang, Bringing Government Closer To The Rakyat
KUCHING: The Sarawakku Sayang (SKS) Programme 2026 will commence in the Limbang Division from 10 to 12 April, consolidating a range of government services, assistance and economic opportunities at a single venue to facilitate direct public engagement.
Limbang has been chosen as the inaugural location for this year’s tour which will subsequently be extended to other divisions throughout Sarawak until November, reflecting the state government’s commitment to delivering inclusive services irrespective of location.
Deputy Minister for Food Industry, Commodity and Regional Development as well as Bukit Kota Assemblyman Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Ismail described the programme as a key platform that bridges the gap between the public and government agencies.
“As a representative of the people, I sincerely welcome the organisation of the Sarawakku Sayang Programme and wish to convey my appreciation to the Sarawak Government for selecting Limbang as the inaugural host,” he said.
“This programme brings together various government agencies in one place, making it easier for the public to deal with them directly,” he said.
He made the remarks during the Juh Randau programme produced by the Sarawak Public Communication Unit (UKAS) at the UKAS Studio on Wednesday.
He further added that one of the primary benefits of the programme is the provision of convenient access to various government services at a single location, thereby reducing time and costs for the public.
In addition, the programme also offers free health screenings, dissemination of assistance such as the Sumbangan Keperluan Asas Sarawak (SKAS) as well as economic opportunities for local entrepreneurs through the Limbang Kitchen platform.
In the meantime, Limbang Resident Unus Tambi informed that several coordination meetings have been conducted with the relevant agencies including the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM), RELA, the Department of Agriculture and the District Office to ensure the smooth execution of the programme.
He said that through Limbang Kitchen, local entrepreneurs are provided with opportunities to conduct their business activities and promote their respective products.
He added that he expects enthusiastic participation from the local community, drawn by attractions such as e-competitions with prizes ranging from motorcycles and smartphones to smart TVs and electrical appliances, alongside performances by local artists on April 10 and 11.
The official launch ceremony is scheduled to take place on 11 April at 10.30 am at the Limbang Sports Complex and is anticipated to be officiated by the Premier of Sarawak, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Datuk Abang Openg.
The public, particularly residents of Limbang and neighbouring areas including Lawas, Miri, Sabah, Labuan and Brunei Darussalam are cordially invited to participate in the programme which serves to strengthen the relationship between the government and the people while simultaneously stimulating the local economy. -UKASnews
