PJRM Further Strengthened To Address The People’s Cost Of Living
PADAWAN: The Government is continuing to intensify efforts to address the rising cost of living through a more proactive and targeted implementation of the Rahmah MADANI Sales Programme (PJRM) nationwide.
Minister of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living, Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali, said the initiative now covers 600 State Legislative Assembly (DUN) areas, including 40 zones in the Federal Territories, with a frequency of at least three times a month in each DUN.
“This programme offers discounts ranging from 10 to 30 per cent below current market prices, involving essential goods such as rice, cooking oil, sugar, flour, eggs and chicken, particularly for low- and middle-income groups,” he told reporters after attending the Sentuhan Kasih Programme and Rahmah MADANI Sales event at the Kampung Bratan/Asah Multipurpose Hall along Jalan Puncak Borneo on Monday.
During the press conference, he also revealed that from 1 January to 31 March 2026, a total of 7,320 PJRM series had been implemented nationwide, recording more than 7.38 million transactions.
In Sarawak alone, 775 programme series were successfully carried out, with total transactions reaching 761,398.
Elaborating further, he said the Government would continue to expand coverage and increase the frequency of PJRM implementation to address global challenges, including the energy crisis, which has impacted supply chains and logistics costs.
In a related development, he also touched on the implementation of the Subsidised Petrol Control System (SKPS) in Sarawak, which has now been extended to passenger boats under the public water transport sector since 9 October 2025.
“To date, a total of 29 companies registered with the Sarawak Rivers Board have been approved under SKPS, enabling them to enjoy subsidised RON95 petrol at RM2.05 per litre. This helps reduce operational costs while ensuring fares remain affordable for the public,” he explained.
Earlier, he also presented contributions under the Sentuhan Kasih Programme to 100 recipients from the Mambong DUN and Puncak Borneo parliamentary constituency, as part of the Government’s efforts to assist those in need.
Also present were Puncak Borneo Member of Parliament Datuk Willie Mongin, Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Director Matthew Dominic Barin, and Padawan Sub-District Office Administrative Officer SAO Julius Scott Sapong. -UKASnews
