Sarawak Premier Agrees To Expand SPK Implementation In Debak
BETONG: Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Datuk Abang Openg has agreed to expand the implementation of the Village Expansion Scheme (SPK) in the Debak area to villages that have yet to benefit from the scheme.
He said the expansion was approved following a request by Deputy Minister for Women, Early Childhood and Community Wellbeing Development and Saribas Assemblyman Datuk Mohammad Razi Sitam.
“So, we will expand it in Saribas, in the areas applied for by Datuk Mohammad Razi,” he said while announcing the good news during the Saribas Constituency Leaders with the People programme at Riveria Sports Centre, Debak, on Friday.
Earlier, Datuk Mohammad Razi had appealed to the Sarawak Premier to consider expanding the SPK applications beyond the already approved 245 lots to other villages, while also expediting the SPK Debak Phase 2 application involving 193 lots.
Phase 1, comprising 52 lots, is currently under construction.
According to him, this is to provide greater convenience for villagers in the area, which is becoming increasingly populated.
“I therefore appeal to the Sarawak Government to approve SPK applications for villages that have yet to apply, as well as villages that have already submitted applications to the Betong Land and Survey Department for consideration, in addition to the SPK Debak Phase 2 application near the mosque.
“As the mosque is already there, we hope the SPK project beside the mosque can also be expedited for the convenience of villagers,” he added.
It is understood that the scheme covers SPK Kampung Debak Laut, Kampung Bungin, Kampung Serembang, Kampung Manggut, Kampung Sebemban, as well as SPK Debak Baharu, involving a total of 245 housing lots.
Meanwhile, he also requested that six completed SPK sites be developed with Rumah Spektra Permata housing similar to those in Spaoh. -UKASnews
