LCDA Strengthens Role To Drive Balanced Development In Sarawak
KUCHING: The Land Custody and Development Authority (LCDA) continues to play a strategic role in accelerating both urban and rural development, while reinforcing Sarawak’s Rural Growth Centre agenda.
Sarawak Deputy Premier, Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan, said the agency’s active involvement spans various scales of development, including urban redevelopment projects as well as the planning of new areas across the state.
“LCDA is directly and indirectly involved in the development of major urban centres as well as rural areas, making the agency a key component in establishing rural growth centres,” he told the media on Saturday.
According to him, beyond urban planning, LCDA also bears significant responsibility in implementing housing projects, particularly affordable housing, to meet the needs of the people.
“We have implemented many affordable housing projects, such as in Darul Hana, and this concept will be expanded to other areas, including Lawas, while also involving resettlement programmes and village expansion in collaboration with relevant agencies,” he explained.
He added that LCDA is also undertaking the development of public amenities, including recreational areas and community facilities, to enhance residents’ quality of life.
In this regard, he stressed that LCDA’s contribution to the state’s development is substantial and expressed hope that the agency will continue to be strengthened in driving Sarawak’s comprehensive and sustainable development. -UKASnews
