Sarawak Governor & Sarawak Premier Show Moral Support For KCFC Win
KUCHING: The Sarawak Governor, Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar, and Sarawak Premier, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Datuk Abang Openg, gave their moral support to Kuching City FC (KCFC) against Selangor FC during the Malaysia Cup semi-final second leg at the Sarawak State Stadium on Saturday.
The presence of Sarawak’s two top leaders provided heartfelt support throughout the match, as they remained fully focused on every move of the KCFC players, who performed with immense spirit.
The thrilling clash between these two giants kept both teams and the entire crowd on the edge of their seats; every time a Selangor FC attack was thwarted, a visible wave of relief swept through the stadium.
Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi and the Sarawak Premier also cheered enthusiastically whenever KCFC launched a dangerous attack on the Selangor FC goal.
Adding to the sense of occasion, KCFC successfully overcame Selangor FC 1-0, securing their place in the Malaysia Cup final for the first time in the club's history.
The 30th-minute strike by Petrus Shitembi was enough to secure KCFC's place in the final of the nation’s most prestigious football tournament.
Immediately after the match concluded, the players took the opportunity to wave towards the leaders in appreciation of their presence and vocal support during what was a truly dramatic encounter.
Also in attendance were the wife of the Sarawak Governor, Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah Mohd Sanusi, the daughter of the Sarawak Premier, Dayang Norjihan Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari, Minister for Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development Sarawak, Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, Deputy Minister in the Premier’s Department (Corporate Affairs, Information and UKAS), Datuk Abdullah Saidol, Chief Political Secretary to the Premier and President of KCFC, Dato Fazzrudin Abdul Rahman, the Sarawak State Attorney-General, Dato Sri Saferi Ali, as well as other distinguished guests.-UKASnews
