SINGAPORE: The Sarawak Trade and Tourism Office Singapore (STATOS) is targeting at least five Sarawakian companies to successfully seal business deals with international buyers at its upcoming participation in the Food & Hospitality Asia (FHA) 2027 exhibition.
STATOS Chairman Tan Sri Datuk Amar Mohamad Morshidi Abdul Ghani said Sarawak's participation in such platforms has now shifted from mere exhibitions to a results-oriented approach, including the signing of trade deals.
"In the future, we do not just want to showcase products, but ensure that more business agreements are signed.
"Next year, we are targeting at least five companies to reach agreements with buyers," he said when interviewed by the Sarawak Public Communication Unit (UKAS) at the Sarawak Pavilion, here on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, Tan Sri Datuk Amar Mohamad Morshidi said that the sales performance of Sarawak exhibitors showed an encouraging increase from year to year, with sales value reaching about RM24 million last year.
Meanwhile, for this year STATOS is targeting an increase to RM35 million, in line with efforts to strengthen the presence of Sarawak products in foreign markets.
He further explained that Singapore is a strategic market and a major gateway to the global market which opens up opportunities for Sarawak products to expand to other countries.
In this regard, he stressed that STATOS will continue to encourage more Sarawak companies that are ready to participate in international platforms, besides taking advantage of networking and technology opportunities to expand the market and increase competitiveness.
In this year's edition, the Sarawak Pavilion features 19 exhibitors, about 30 per cent of which were first-time participants, reflecting the growing interest among local entrepreneurs to penetrate the international market.
Exhibitors involved cover a wide range of food and beverage product categories, including instant drinks and teas, Sarawak pepper, SG1 pineapple-based products, blended butters, pastes and sauces, canned foods, craft beverages, bird's nest, empurau fish, Sacha Inchi oil, plant-based snacks and bakery products. -UKASnews
