Nurturing Future Stewards: Earth Day Programme for Kindergarten Children at IFRC Semengoh
KUCHING: The Forest Department Sarawak organized an engaging Earth Day event at the Industrial Forest Research Centre (IFRC) Semengoh to introduce the concept of environmental conservation to young children.
A total of 45 students from Tadika Bahagia, ranging in age from four to six years old, attended the session, accompanied by a group of 14 teachers.
The educational visit was specifically designed to foster environmental awareness by utilising a fun and play-based learning approach.
Dr. Pang Shek Ling and the IFRC team kicked off the day’s events by providing the young participants with a demonstration on proper seedling planting techniques.
The students added a sentimental and memorable touch to the activity by choosing a unique name for the specific seedling they had just planted.
Participants also engaged in a creative leaf stamping session, which allowed them to use natural leaves to produce imaginative pieces of artwork.
The Forest Department Sarawak hopes that these types of early exposure initiatives will inspire future generations to appreciate the importance of Earth Day, which serves as a meaningful annual reminder to protect and preserve our forests.
Earth Day, which takes place every year on April 22nd, acts as a vital prompt regarding the necessity of ecological conservation and the protection of our natural woodland areas.
Providing children with early opportunities to learn within nature is a fundamental step in building a lasting respect for the environment, which helps guarantee that the leaders of tomorrow feel a duty to maintain a sustainable world.-UKASnews
