Sarawak Pavilion Steals Spotlight At FHA 2026, Highlighting Uniqueness Of Local Products
SINGAPORE: The Sarawak Pavilion stole the spotlight at Food & Hospitality Asia (FHA) 2026 by highlighting the uniqueness and innovation of local products, effectively setting itself apart from hundreds of other exhibitors.
Managed by the Sarawak Trade and Tourism Office Singapore (STATOS), the Sarawak Pavilion brings together 19 exhibitors within a 126-square-meter space, including new participants that reflect the positive growth of Sarawak’s Small and Medium Enterprise (SME) sector.
Among the products highlighted are Sarawak pepper, bird's nest, empurau fish, and Sarawak Gold 1 (SG1) pineapple, alongside tasting sessions that offer visitors the chance to experience the uniqueness of these local products firsthand.
In a related development, Sarawak Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan stated that platforms like FHA provide local entrepreneurs with the space to expand their markets and strengthen their brands at an international level.
According to him, innovations such as Midin-based tea demonstrate the ability of local entrepreneurs to add value to existing resources.
“Midin, which we know as a vegetable, has now been successfully commercialised as a beverage and is receiving a positive response in the Singaporean market.
“This proves that our products have their own uniqueness and are capable of attracting international market interest,” he said when interviewed by the Sarawak Public Communication Unit (UKAS) after officiating the Sarawak Pavilion here on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, DatukAmarAwangTengah, who is also the Sarawak Minister for International Trade, Industry and Investment (MINTRED), emphasised that Sarawak’s advantages in the agricultural and fisheries sectors provide a solid foundation for entrepreneurs to compete in the global market.
“Consumers today prioritise product quality and safety. This requires entrepreneurs to adapt their processes and standards to align with market demands,” he emphasised.
FHA 2026, which is happening from 21 to 24 April at Singapore Expo, is expected to attract more than 80,000 international visitors, thereby expanding opportunities for business networking and investment.
Also present were Deputy Minister for International Trade, Industry and Investment, Datuk Dr Malcolm Mussen Lamoh, STATOS Chairman, Tan Sri Datuk Amar Mohamad Morshidi Abdul Ghani, MINTRED Advisor, Dato Sri Mohd Naroden Majais, STATOS Board Members, Datu Hii Chang Kee, who is also the Deputy Sarawak Secretary (Operation), Datu Laura Lee Ngien Hion, Dato Ngui Ing Ing, Datu Lester Matthew, and Charlie Soh Poh Peng, as well as STATOS Chief Executive Officer, Chew Chang Guan. -UKASnews
