Free Shuttle Bus Service Enhances Visitor Access To Sarawakku Sayang 2026 Programme in Miri
MIRI: Free shuttle bus services will be made available throughout the duration of the Sarawakku Sayang (SKS) 2026 Programme in the Miri Division as a strategic initiative to enhance accessibility for visitors and ensure the smooth movement of attendees to the event venue.
The initiative which is a collaboration between the Organising Committee and the Ministry of Transport Sarawak (MOTS) also aims to reduce traffic congestion as well as ensure the comfort of visitors throughout the programme held from 24 to 26 April at Miri Stadium.
The Chairman of the SKS Miri Division Organising Committee who also serves as the Miri Division Resident Galong Luang stated that two main routes have been made available involving the Pelita Bus Terminal to Miri Stadium as well as the Boulevard Bus Stop to Miri Stadium.
Two routes have been made available, namely the first from Pelita Bus Terminal to Miri Stadium and the second from Boulevard Bus Stop to Miri Stadium with services operating at 30-minute intervals or more frequently should passenger demand increase.
He said all services will operate from 9 am to 9 pm on 24 and 25 April and from 9 am to 6 pm on 26 April, in an interview with RTM Miri on Tuesday.
He further stated that the provision of these facilities will also assist in ensuring more orderly traffic flow around the Miri Stadium area which is expected to receive approximately 20,000 visitors from Miri and surrounding areas including Baram, Sibuti, Bintulu and Brunei.
In the meantime, visitors using private vehicles are advised to comply with instructions from traffic personnel and the provided road signage as well as to plan their journeys earlier to avoid congestion, particularly during peak hours.
The highlight of the programme will be the opening ceremony officiated by Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Datuk Abang Openg on April 25 at 10.30 am at the Grand Tent, Miri Stadium.
Throughout the three-day programme, the public will have the opportunity to obtain information including details on the increased Sumbangan Keperluan Asas Sarawak (SKAS) 2026 as well as access a range of government services through the Sarawak Pavilion.
Among the services provided are the Sarawak Free Tertiary Education Scheme (FTES) and career opportunities through interview sessions organised by JobSarawak.
The programme will also be enlivened with various community activities including aerobics, the SKS Fun Run 3KM, Miri Kitchen, rakyat sports games and e-sports in addition to cultural performances and the Konsert Rakyat in the evening.
The organisation of the programme not only serves as a platform for the direct delivery of government services to the people but also strengthens community ties and fosters a spirit of unity among people from all walks of life. -UKASnews
