Four Pulau Bruit Bridges Record Encouraging Progress, Targeted For Early Completion
DARO: The construction of four bridges at Pulau Bruit continues to record positive progress, with implementation now at a highly encouraging stage and potentially ahead of the original completion schedule.
The four major structures involving the Penipah, Penuai, Betanak and Salah Kechil bridges are reported to be progressing smoothly through well-planned execution and the use of modern construction technology.
Deputy Minister in the Sarawak Premier’s Department (Corporate Affairs, Information and UKAS) Datuk Abdullah Saidol said the projects were initiated based on the needs of local communities, particularly to improve connectivity in coastal areas.
The Semop Assemblyman said the current progress reflects effective planning and the commitment of all parties involved in ensuring the works remain on schedule.
“The projects were designed based on the actual needs of the people of Pulau Bruit, and we can see that implementation is now on the right track, with the potential to be completed earlier than planned,” he said during a working visit to the project site in Kampung Penipah on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, Deputy Minister for Infrastructure and Port Development Datuk Ir Aidel Lariwoo said the use of ultra high-performance concrete (UHPC) is among the key factors contributing to faster construction progress.
According to him, the technology not only enhances structural durability, but also enables works to be carried out more efficiently compared with conventional methods.
“The use of UHPC allows faster construction without compromising quality, while ensuring the bridges are more durable,” he said.
The projects are expected to bring significant benefits to seven settlements in the northern part of Pulau Bruit, which previously faced connectivity challenges. -UKASnews
