Construction Of Permanent Infrastructure Planned At Mukah Kaul Festival Site
KUCHING: The construction of permanent infrastructure is currently being planned at the Mukah Kaul Festival Site as a strategic move to improve facilities and cost reduction for future event organisation.
Balingian Assemblyman Abdul Yakub Arbi said discussions were held with Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Datuk Abang Openg in conjunction with a courtesy visit at the Satria Pertiwi Complex on Wednesday.
According to Abdul Yakub, among the infrastructure being considered are permanent tents and stages, as well as upgrades to existing parking facilities.
“We have discussed with the Sarawak Premier regarding the need to improve existing facilities in the area so that the cost of organising events can be reduced in the future.
“Among the proposals put forward are the construction of permanent structures such as tents and stages, as opposed to the use of temporary tents that need to be brought in every time an event is organised, as well as improvements to parking facilities, as shortage of parking space often occurs,” he said at a press conference after the visit.
According to the Chairman of the 2026 Mukah Kaul Main Committee, response to the festival continues to grow, not only among locals but also international tourists.
This situation, he said, requires better facilities and infrastructure to accommodate the organisation of large-scale events in the future.
Meanwhile, Tellian Assemblyman Royston Valentine also proposed the construction of a permanent food court under the Rajang Delta Development Agency (RADDA) to support activities throughout the year.
“This means we will not face major problems in future when organising any form of gathering at the beach area, whether the Kaul Festival, food festivals or any other activities, as they can be carried out more effectively because we are upgrading the existing facilities,” he said.
Also present were Acting Mukah Division Resident Shafrie Saili and Mukah District Officer Peleadzman Ahip. -UKASnews
