Sarawak Governor Receives Courtesy Call From National Qariah Champion
KUCHING: Sarawakian Qariah Nur Syakura Mohamad Musa who was crowned champion of the National-Level Tilawah & Hafazan Al-Quran 1447H/2026M event paid a courtesy visit to Sarawak Governor Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar at Astana Negeri Sarawak, on Wednesday.
The visit was held to present the national championship trophy to the Head of State as a mark of respect, while sharing an achievement that has brought pride to the state on the national stage.
The meeting, which lasted about an hour, also served as a platform to express appreciation for the state government's continued support in strengthening Islamic development and producing quality qari and qariah talents.
Nur Syakura created history of her own when she ended Sarawak's 17-year wait to claim the title of national qariah champion.
The success was even more meaningful as it marked her sixth time participating in the event since 2017.
Also accompanying her during the visit were Deputy Minister in the Sarawak Premier's Department (Project Coordinator for Regional Development Agencies, Kuching North City Commission and Islamic Affairs) Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi and his wife Datin Siti Shorgayah Ahmad Zaidel.
Others present included Chief Supervisor of GAQ-MIS Dato Ismawi Duet, Sarawak Islamic Religious Department (JAIS) Deputy Director II Wan Shaifuddin Wan Madihi, Darul Hana Al-Quran Development Centre (DHQc-MIS) Chief Executive Officer Mohd Shalahudin Marzuki, Principal Assistant Director of the JAIS Corporate Communications Unit Helmi Dato Nahrawi and JAIS Corporate Communications Administrative Officer Zaliha Minan. -UKASnews
