SUS 2026 Expands MSME Market Reach, Targets RM3 Million In Sales
KUANTAN: Sarawak is expanding market access for micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) to the national level through the Showcase Usahawan Sarawak (SUS) 2026, with a targeted potential sales value of RM3 million.
The programme, held at Kuantan City Mall from 29 April to 3 May, brings together Sarawakian entrepreneurs on a strategic platform to strengthen business networks and enhance the competitiveness of local products.
The opening ceremony was officiated by the Sarawak Deputy Premier and Minister for International Trade, Industry and Investment (MINTRED), Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan, on Thursday.
According to him, the organisation of SUS serves not merely as a promotional platform, but also as a catalyst for commercial activities and the expansion of business networks among Sarawakian entrepreneurs.
“This programme provides a platform for our entrepreneurs to promote their products and services at the national level, while strengthening business networks and accelerating commercial activities,” he said.
He added that the implementation of business matching sessions involving several companies as strategic partners is expected to open up broader market opportunities for Sarawakian products.
“To date, several companies have expressed interest in becoming strategic partners, with a targeted potential sales value of RM3 million,” he said.
At the same time, he emphasised that collaboration between Sarawak and Pahang serves as a strategic model in strengthening economic ties and expanding market opportunities between regions.
“This collaboration reflects a development approach that integrates heritage with innovation, as well as economic growth with the well-being of the people,” he said.
He further stressed that MSMEs must continue to enhance their competitiveness by improving product quality, exploring new economic sectors, and adopting environmental, social and governance (ESG) principles in order to penetrate wider markets.
SUS 2026 also features a range of unique Sarawakian products spanning the food and beverage sector, handicrafts, as well as products based on local resources.
The event is supported by various government and private agencies as part of efforts to strengthen the entrepreneurial ecosystem and stimulate economic activity at the national level.
This initiative is expected to deliver spillover benefits to local entrepreneurs while enhancing the marketability of Sarawakian products in broader markets, including internationally. -UKASnews
