Bernama Strengthens Collaboration With UKAS, Provides Expertise In Journalism
KUCHING: The Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama) intends to strengthen its strategic collaboration with the Sarawak Public Communication Unit (UKAS) by offering expertise in the field of journalism, especially ahead of the 2027 SEA Games and the upcoming Sarawak State Election (PRN).
Bernama Chief Executive Officer Datin Paduka Nur-ul Afida Kamaludin said the courtesy visit to UKAS served as an important platform to strengthen existing relationships and explore broader collaboration opportunities between the two agencies.
She said Bernama has expertise in the field of journalism to carry out coverage and the like, as was done during the Malaysia Games (SUKMA) in Sarawak last year.
"Our experience as an international media centre operator during ASEAN and several major national events before allows us to share experience and expertise in that aspect," she said.
She said this when paying a courtesy call on Deputy Minister in the Premier's Department of Sarawak (Corporate Affairs, Information and UKAS) Datuk Abdullah Saidol at the UKAS Office, Bangunan Baitulmakmur, here, on Tuesday.
She said the courtesy call also discussed many matters, particularly on various courses involving journalists in Sarawak as well as several programmes that require cooperation between UKAS and the Sarawak Government.
Therefore, Datin Paduka Nur-ul Afida expressed hope that this cooperation could be realised more comprehensively in the future. -UKASnews
