Move For Gold 2026 Empowers Support For Children With Cancer In Conjunction With SCCS's 25th Anniversary
KUCHING: The Sarawak Children’s Cancer Society (SCCS) has launched the Move For Gold 2026 campaign as a major initiative in conjunction with its 25th anniversary, aiming to expand public awareness and strengthen support for children battling cancer and their families in Sarawak.
The campaign, which will take place from July 3 to 5 at The Hills and Pullman Kuching, brings together elements of fitness, fundraising, and health education into one inclusive community movement.
SCCS President Mary Kiu Ai Ling stated that throughout its 25 years of establishment, SCCS has supported more than 1,800 families through financial assistance, accommodation, counselling, and long-term care programmes.
“Move For Gold 2026 reflects the strength of community support in helping children facing the challenges of cancer, while also reinforcing awareness of the importance of early detection,” she said.
She said this during a press conference following a courtesy call to the Minister for Women, Early Childhood and Community Wellbeing Development Dato Sri Fatimah Abdullah at the Melur Meeting Room, KPWK on Tuesday.
The visit was also intended to invite Dato Sri Fatimah to officiate the GoBald 2026 programme on July 4, which serves as a symbol of solidarity with children undergoing cancer treatment.
During the meeting, SCCS expressed its commitment to continue working with the state government to strengthen the support system for childhood cancer patients, while expanding community wellbeing initiatives and healthy lifestyle practices.
Key highlights of the campaign include the GoBald Campaign, the Golden Loop 5KM Charity Run, Family and Community Wellbeing Day, and various awareness programmes related to childhood cancer.
As part of the 25th-anniversary celebration, SCCS also plans to invite the Premier of Sarawak as the event patron, as well as to officiate the Golden Loop 5KM Charity Run and attend the anniversary dinner.
The campaign is expected to be a significant platform in mobilizing widespread community participation and reinforcing ongoing support for children and families affected by cancer. — UKASnews
