KUCHING: Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Datuk Abang Openg received a courtesy call from Sarawak Mufti Datu Khalidi Ibrahim at the Kompleks Satria Pertiwi here on Friday.

The visit marked Datu Khalidi’s first courtesy call on the Sarawak Premier following his appointment as the Sarawak Mufti, succeeding Datu Kipli Yassin whose term of service ended on 28 February.

His appointment took effect on 1 March 2026 following the retirement of Datu Kipli after more than a decade leading the state’s religious institution.

Prior to the appointment, Datu Khalidi served as a consultant and played an important role in the Sarawak Mufti Department.

The appointment is seen as a continuation of leadership efforts to strengthen the state fatwa institution so that it remains authoritative, relevant, and responsive to current developments.
