KUCHING: Delegates of the Malaysian-German Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MGCC) expressed strong interest in exploring potential collaboration and investment opportunities in Sarawak’s growing transport and logistics sectors.
According to a statement, this was conveyed during a courtesy call and roundtable discussion with Sarawak Minister for Transport (MOTS) Dato Sri Lee Kim Shin, held at Bangunan Baitulmakmur on Thursday.
The delegation was led by MGCC Member of the Board of Directors Dato’ Steven Aroki, who was in Sarawak in conjunction with the 6th German-Malaysian Business Forum (GMBF) held in Kuching.

Dato Sri Lee also shared Sarawak’s long-term vision in transforming its transport landscape in line with the Post Covid-19 Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030, with emphasis on sustainable and technology-driven solutions.
Among the key initiatives highlighted was the development of the Kuching Urban Transportation System (KUTS), including the implementation of the Autonomous Rapid Transit (ART) system powered by hydrogen technology, and positioning Sarawak as a pioneer in green public transportation in the region.
He added that the system will also be supported by a fleet of 55 hydrogen-powered feeder buses, further strengthening Sarawak’s commitment towards low-carbon and environmentally friendly public mobility solutions.
The statement noted that the MOTS Minister also briefed the delegation on the state’s ongoing efforts to strengthen air connectivity and regional mobility through AirBorneo, as well as infrastructure upgrades at airports, ports, and lorry terminals to support economic growth, tourism, trade, and investment.
Dato Sri Lee also welcomed stronger engagement between Sarawak and German industries, especially in areas related to smart mobility, clean energy transportation, logistics innovation, industrial supply chains, and transport infrastructure development.
