Internet & Telecommunications Coverage Issues In Kampung Asajaya Laut Given Immediate Attention
ASAJAYA: The issues regarding weak internet access and telecommunications coverage in Kampung Asajaya Laut received immediate attention when the Deputy Minister of Rural and Regional Development and Member of Parliament for Kota Samarahan, Datuk Rubiah Wang, conducted a site visit to personally inspect the situation in the area on Friday.
The visit was held immediately following a discussion session with the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC), state telecommunications infrastructure provider, SACOFA, and telecommunications service providers regarding network weaknesses within the Kota Samarahan parliamentary constituency.
According to her, on-site monitoring is crucial to allow all parties to see firsthand the extent of signal weakness and the internet coverage issues faced by local residents.
"We do not want to merely hear reports on paper; instead, we want to visit the affected areas ourselves so that solutions can be implemented more accurately and effectively," she said.
The inspection found that several areas still experience weak and unstable internet access, which affects the daily affairs of the community.
She added that the situation not only impacts residents' communication but also affects education, economic activities, and access to digital services, which have now become a primary necessity for the people.
Datuk Rubiah also emphasised that all relevant parties must take immediate follow-up action, including strengthening telecommunications infrastructure and improving network coverage in the identified problem areas.
"People in rural and coastal areas also have the right to enjoy good, stable, and high-quality communication facilities, just like other areas," she stated.
She expressed hope that the close cooperation between the government, MCMC, SACOFA, and telecommunications providers will continue to be strengthened to ensure that residents in the Kota Samarahan constituency enjoy faster, more stable, and comprehensive internet access in line with current technological developments.
