Four Bills To Be Tabled During Sarawak State Assembly Sitting From May 11–20
KUCHING: A total of four Bills will be tabled during the Third Meeting of the Fifth Term of the 19th Sarawak State Legislative Assembly, which is scheduled to take place from May 11 to 20, 2026, at the Sarawak Legislative Assembly Complex.
Speaker of the Sarawak Legislative Assembly, Tan Sri Datuk Amar Mohamad Asfia Awang Nassar, said the tabling of Government Bills by the ministers concerned would take place on May 12 and May 14, 2026.
“The four Bills to be tabled are the Supplementary Supply Bill (2025) 2026, the Supplementary Supply Bill (2026) 2026, the Sarawak Paddy and Rice Board Bill 2026, and the Sarawak Economic Development Corporation (Amendment) Bill 2026,” he said.
He said this during a press conference following the Pre-Council Meeting held in conjunction with the Sarawak State Assembly Sitting, chaired by Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Abang Openg at the headquarters of the Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu on Saturday.
He added that the Supplementary Supply Bill (2025) 2026 and the Supplementary Supply Bill (2026) 2026 would be tabled by the Sarawak Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas, with the first reading scheduled for May 12, while the second and third readings would take place on May 14.
Meanwhile, the Sarawak Paddy and Rice Board Bill 2026, he said, would be tabled by Minister for Food Industry, Commodity And Regional Development, Dato Sri Dr Stephen Rundi Utom, with the first, second and third readings all scheduled for May 12.
As for the Sarawak Economic Development Corporation (Amendment) Bill 2026, he said it would be tabled by Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah on May 12, involving all three readings.
In a related development, Tan Sri Datuk Amar Mohamad Asfia informed that a total of 333 questions, comprising oral and written questions, had been received from 39 Members of the State Legislative Assembly (ADUNs).
According to him, of the total, 254 questions were for oral replies involving 37 ADUNs, while another 79 were written questions submitted by 15 ADUNs.
He added that the Sarawak Premier’s Department received the highest number of questions, with 50 submitted.
The sitting will commence with the official opening ceremony by the Yang di-Pertua Negeri of Sarawak, Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar, on May 11, 2026.
Also present at the meeting were Sarawak Deputy Premiers Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas and Datuk Amar Professor Dr Sim Kui Hian, members of the Sarawak Cabinet, Sarawak Secretary Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki, deputy ministers of the Sarawak Cabinet, Members of the State Legislative Assembly, and others. -UKASnews
