KUCHING: The strong spirit of cooperation and commitment among staff of the Ministry of Utility and Telecommunication Sarawak (MUTS) and the agencies under its purview has enabled the ministry to deliver accurate, transparent and fact-based information to the public regarding the development and implementation of utility and telecommunication projects.

MUTS Minister Dato Sri Julaihi Narawi said such cooperation is especially important throughout the 19th Sarawak Legislative Assembly (DUN) sitting to ensure every issue raised can be addressed with the latest and most accurate information.

“Throughout the session, the ministry received a total of 45 oral questions as well as several written questions that needed to be answered to meet the expectations of all elected representatives.

“These questions covered various issues related to water supply, electricity supply, gas distribution as well as telecommunication facilities, including internet connectivity throughout Sarawak, particularly in their respective areas,” he said.

He said this during the Appreciation Ceremony held in conjunction with the First Meeting of the Fifth Term of the 19th Sarawak DUN, held here on Tuesday.

He added that every piece of information presented was also thoroughly reviewed based on the actual situation and real-time data to ensure factual accuracy before being shared in the August House.

“This is very important because if there is inaccurate information that could create negative perceptions, we have a broad opportunity to correct it by presenting the actual facts for sharing,” he added.

According to him, the approach is crucial in ensuring the people receive factual explanations regarding the implementation of utility and telecommunication projects and initiatives in their respective areas.

Also present were Deputy Ministers for Utility and Telecommunication Datuk Liwan Lagang and Datuk Ibrahim Baki, as well as heads of departments. -UKASnews
