Malaysia MADANI Nationhood Seminar Enhances Women’s Understanding Of Government Policies & Initiatives
KUCHING: The Malaysia MADANI Nationhood Seminar organised by the Sarawak Single Mothers Association (PITSA) Samariang Branch in collaboration with the National Civics Academy has served as an important platform to enhance the knowledge and awareness of women, particularly single mothers, regarding government policies and development initiatives.
Deputy Minister in the Sarawak Premier’s Department (Law, MA63 and State-Federal Relations) and Samariang Assemblywoman Datuk Sharifah Hasidah Sayeed Aman Ghazali said the seminar demonstrated the ability of women to collaborate with government agencies in implementing programmes that benefit the community.
She said mothers play a vital role in shaping the character and future of their children, and therefore must always be equipped with knowledge and up-to-date information.
“Although many mothers may not have had the opportunity to pursue higher education at university level, they can still gain knowledge through programmes such as this.
“Through involvement in associations, they can learn about the various programmes and assistance provided by the government for the people,” she said when speaking at the programme in Kampung Semariang Batu here on Saturday.
According to Datuk Sharifah Hasidah, the people need to understand Sarawak’s aspiration to become a developed and high-income state by 2030, in line with the development agenda driven by the Sarawak Government under the leadership of Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Datuk Abang Openg.
In this regard, she said education remains one of the key priorities to ensure that Sarawak’s younger generation is capable of competing and contributing to the state’s future development.
She also reminded parents to ensure their children receive the best possible education and take advantage of the free tertiary education opportunities provided by the Sarawak Government.
She expressed appreciation to PITSA Samariang for its continued commitment to organising programmes that benefit women and the local community.
Such efforts, she said, are important in producing a knowledgeable, competitive society capable of contributing to the future development of Sarawak and the nation. -UKASnews
