SCaT Fair 2026 Strengthens Sarawak’s Talent Development Agenda
KUCHING: The Sarawak Career and Training (SCaT) Fair 2026 continues to serve as a strategic platform for the Sarawak Government in strengthening human capital development, with this year’s edition targeting more than 25,000 visitors throughout its duration.
Now in its 12th edition, the programme brings together more than 130 exhibitors comprising government agencies, private sector organisations and educational institutions, offering a wide range of educational opportunities, skills training programmes and career prospects to the public, particularly young people.
Chairman of the Tabung Ekonomi Gagasan Anak Sarawak and Deputy Minister for Urban Planning, Land Administration and Environment, Datuk Len Talif Salleh, said SCaT Fair is an important initiative that provides a one-stop platform connecting education opportunities, career pathways and education financing assistance under one roof.
According to him, the programme, jointly organised with the Ministry of Education, Innovation and Talent Development Sarawak, is aligned with the Sarawak Government’s aspiration to produce a skilled, competitive and future-ready workforce capable of meeting the challenges of a changing economy.
“TEGAS’ primary focus is on Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM), entrepreneurship and artificial intelligence (AI), which are key drivers of Sarawak’s transformation.
“Through this talent development ecosystem, we aim to nurture more job creators rather than merely job seekers,” he said.
He said this during the launch ceremony of the Sarawak Career and Training Fair 2026, which was officiated by Sarawak Premier, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Datuk Abang Openg, at the Hikmah Exchange Event Centre here on Saturday.
He added that visitors would have the opportunity to explore various academic and TVET education pathways, attend open interview sessions with employers, and obtain information on education financing directly throughout the event.
He explained that among the key highlights of SCaT Fair 2026 are the Sarawak Rocketeer Can Satellite (Can-Sat) Challenge, digital skills competitions, education and career exhibitions, open interview sessions, the Oil and Gas Industry Zone by PETROS, as well as a variety of interactive STEM activities.
In an effort to ensure that the benefits of talent development also reach rural communities, TEGAS will continue implementing the Project of Dreams Realized (PRoDR) programme, which will tour 14 locations throughout Sarawak following the conclusion of SCaT Fair.
The initiative aims to ensure that students in rural areas enjoy equal access to information on education, skills training and career opportunities.
At the same time, TEGAS will organise more than 100 talent development programmes throughout the year, including the Borneo Makers Festival 2026 themed “Artificial Intelligence for Makers”, SCALE Sarawak, Sarawak Shell LiveWIRE, DROBOTEX and the StartUp World Cup Bootcamp East Malaysia Chapter. -UKASnews
