KIK Must Become Catalyst For Civil Service Transformation, Not Just Competition
KUCHING: Projects produced through the Innovative and Creative Group (KIK) Convention should not just end as competition entries, but must be adopted, replicated, and scaled up to drive a more effective and high-impact public service delivery transformation for the people.
Sarawak Minister for Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah explained that this approach is vital to ensure every highlighted idea and innovation can be translated into actual outcomes to meet the public's demands for a more agile, dynamic, and result-oriented service delivery.
“The KIK Mini Convention has become a strategic mechanism driving the evolution of public service delivery, ensuring that each featured KIK project begins with a high-impact outcome target and is aligned with the aspirations of the Post-COVID-19 Development Strategy 2030 (PCDS 2030) as the backbone of Sarawak's development,” he noted.
He said this while speaking at the KIK Mini Convention Awards Presentation Ceremony for the Sarawak Ministry of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts (MTCP) and the Sarawak Ministry of Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development (MYSED) here on Friday.
In relation to that, the Minister—who is also the Sarawak Minister for Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development—emphasised that the developed innovations should not be confined to the use of a single agency, but must instead hold the potential to be adapted and expanded for use by other agencies through a Whole-of-Government approach.
It is understood that the 2026 KIK Mini Convention brought together 17 groups involving over 123 personnel from MTCP and MYSED across Sarawak.
From MTCP, the CITRA group clinched first place to secure a cash prize of RM2,000, while the MUSES group took second place with RM1,500 in cash.
Meanwhile, representation from MYSED saw the OPTIMUS group crowning themselves champions to take home a cash prize of RM2,000.
The Impact V3nus group and the MASPINE group finished in second and third place respectively, taking home cash prizes of RM1,500 and RM1,000.
Also present were the Sarawak Deputy Minister for Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Datuk Sebastian Ting Chiew Yew, MTCP Permanent Secretary Morshidi Fredrick, MYSED Permanent Secretary Dzulkornain Masron, MTCP Special Administrative Officer Datu Dr Rashidah Bolhassan, as well as Heads of Departments. — UKASnews
