Symbolic Cheque Presentation Marks Bintulu Port Status Change
BINTULU: The symbolic presentation of a cheque by Sarawak Premier, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Dr. Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Datuk Abang Openg, to Prime Minister Dato' Seri Anwar Ibrahim marked the pinnacle of the Bintulu Port Status Change Cheque Presentation Ceremony, held at the Auditorium, Level 1, Kidurong Tower, Bintulu Port Authority today.
The historic ceremony signifies the completion of the status change process for Bintulu Port, which is seen as highly capable of strengthening the port's role as a major driver of economic growth for Sarawak and the nation.
Earlier, the Prime Minister and Sarawak Premier visited the Observation Deck before viewing a special montage presentation showcasing the journey and strategic importance of Bintulu Port to the state's development.
The ceremony continued with a speech by the Sarawak Premier and a keynote address by the Prime Minister, which, among other things, touched upon the close cooperation between the Federal Government and the Sarawak Government in ensuring the success of the nation's development agenda.
Also taking place was the exchange of the Completion Agreement and the Tripartite Agreement documents before the symbolic presentation of the cheque was finalised.
Also present were Malaysian Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Amar Fadillah Yusof, Sarawak Deputy Premiers Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas and Datuk Amar Professor Dr Sim Kui Hian, Sarawak Legislative Assembly Speaker Tan Sri Datuk Amar Mohamad Asfia Awang Nasar, Federal and Sarawak Cabinet Ministers, Sarawak Secretary Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki, Deputy Ministers, heads of departments, and local community leaders. — UKASnews
