PAC Sarawak Strengthens Monitoring Of Baleh Hydro Dam Access Road Strategic Project
KAPIT: The Sarawak Public Accounts Committee (PAC) strengthened its check and balance function on the implementation of the state's strategic development projects through a site visit to the Baleh Hydro Dam Access Road Project in Kapit Division on Wednesday.
The visit, led by Sarawak PAC Chairman Dato Razaili Gapor aimed to directly assess the progress of project implementation to ensure that it is carried out according to the scope, schedule and planning set, thus guaranteeing efficient, transparent and accountable management of public allocations.
Throughout the visit, the Sarawak PAC delegation was briefed on the current status of the project by the Public Works Department (JKR) Kapit Division Divisional Assistant Engineer Ir Ts Christopher Donovan Durin Ajoi.
The briefing covered the development of project implementation, current physical progress, in addition to the technical and operational challenges faced to ensure that the strategic infrastructure project can be completed according to plan.
The PAC delegation also held a discussion session with the implementing agency to get clarification and direct feedback on the implementation of the project, including the coordination measures taken to ensure that each phase of construction runs smoothly.
The site visit reflects the ongoing commitment of PAC Sarawak in strengthening the governance and accountability of the implementation of state development projects, in addition to ensuring that every project funded by the government provides optimal benefits to the people and supports Sarawak's development agenda.
Participating in the visit were Sarawak PAC members Dato Mohd Chee Kadir, Dato Ir Lo Khere Chiang, Dato Rolland Duat Jubin, See Chee How and Wilson Nyabong Ijang.
Also present were Permanent Secretary to the Ministry for Infrastructure and Port Development (MIPD) Datu Chiew Chee Yau, Sarawak JKR Director Datu Dr Cassidy Morris, Regional Corridor Development Authority (RECODA) representative, Ex-Officio PAC Sarawak members, National Audit Department representative and PAC Sarawak Secretary Nur Azhar Bujang. -UKASnews
