Sarawak Government & MAF Reinforce Cooperation To Ensure Continued Border Security
KUCHING: The Sarawak Government continues to reinforce its strategic cooperation with the Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF) in an effort to ensure that the security of the state's borders remains maintained as well as supporting the integrated development of border areas.
The commitment was expressed through a courtesy visit by the Commander of the 1st Malaysian Infantry Division Major General Mohd Sobirin Mohd Yusof to the Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Datuk Abang Openg at his office at Satria Pertiwi Complex, here, on Friday.
The visit aims to strengthen the relationship between the 1st Headquarters of the Malaysian Infantry Division and the Sarawak Government, in addition to discussing various matters related to security and state development.
Among the matters discussed was an update on the current security status in Sarawak with a special focus on control in the border area to ensure that the state continues to be safe, peaceful and stable.
The two parties also exchanged views on a more effective and integrated approach in strengthening security surveillance in border areas in line with current security needs.
In addition, the meeting also touched upon the strategic cooperation between the 1st Malaysian Infantry Division and the Sarawak Government in the development of infrastructure in the border area as an effort to strengthen the capability of security operations while improving the well-being of the local community.
During the visit, Major General Mohd Sobirin also expressed his appreciation to the Sarawak Government and related agencies for the continuous support and cooperation given to the 1st Malaysian Infantry Division in carrying out its responsibility to safeguard the state's security.
He described the close cooperation between the state government and the security forces as a crucial factor in ensuring stability, peace and the development of the border area can continue to be strengthened.
Also present was the Commander of the 3rd Brigade Brigadier General Khairuddin Zakaria and the Commander of the 31st Brigade Brigadier General Azman Md Zain. -UKASnews
