Asajaya Residents Urged Not To Rush To Sell Land, Property Values Expected To Increase
ASAJAYA: Residents in the Asajaya area are urged not to rush to sell their land as the area is expected to experience rapid development transformation in the next few years, thus potentially increasing property values.
Minister for Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah said that the implementation of several large-scale development projects will position Asajaya among the areas receiving an overflow of development in the southern region of Sarawak.
According to him, projects such as the construction of a new international airport, road network and the Autonomous Rapid Transit (ART) system are expected to be a catalyst for economic growth and physical development in the area.
"Among the locations expected to receive the impact of development are Kampung Beliung, Kampung Moyan, Kampung Tambirat as well as several nearby settlements due to their strategic positions with the proposed construction of a new international airport.
"Don't rush to sell land. Think about the long-term benefits because the value of land in this area is expected to continue to increase when development projects are implemented," he said.
He said this when speaking at the 2026 Asajaya District Level Ngiling Tikai Ceremony held at the Kampung Moyan Ledang Multipurpose Hall on Tuesday.
In this regard, the Asajaya Assemblyman advised landowners to consider prudently before releasing their assets, particularly for land not involved in acquisition for government development purposes.
Dato Sri Abdul Karim also shared that various infrastructure projects currently underway and will be implemented are expected to transform the development landscape of Asajaya, thus increasing property values and creating more economic opportunities for local residents.
Meanwhile, he encouraged the community to take advantage of the opportunities created as a result of the development by improving skills, prioritising education and being willing to participate in economic activities that can improve the standard of living and well-being of families.
The ceremony was also attended by Samarahan Division Deputy Resident Rais Ahmat, Asajaya District Officer Jerry Zannuddin Bidin, Temenggong Chek Bujang, Temenggong Liew Shark Sen, Pemanca Jong Tze Ted, Penghulu John Gawit Dugat and Kampung Moyan Ledang community leader Pridy Regus. -UKASnews
