Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi & Toh Puan Join Unity Walk In Conjunction With Sarawak Day 2026 Celebration
SIBU: The Sarawak Governor, Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar, together with Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah Mohd Sanusi, joined the Unity Walk programme in conjunction with the Sarawak Day 2026 celebration, which gathered over 10,000 participants at Tun Tuanku Bujang Square here on Wednesday.
Members of the public began flooding the square as early as 6.00 am to participate in the programme, which is among the main events of this year's Sarawak Day celebration.
Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi and Toh Puan arrived at approximately 7.00 am before officiating the program.
Accompanying him were the Minister for Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Sarawak as well as Minister for Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, and the Minister for Transport Sarawak as well as Minister-in-Charge of the Sarawak Day 2026 Celebration, Dato Sri Lee Kim Shin.
Also present were the Minister for Women, Early Childhood and Community Wellbeing Development Dato Sri Fatimah Abdullah, Sarawak Secretary Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki, Deputy Minister for Public Health, Housing and Local Government Datuk Michael Tiang Ming Tee, Deputy Minister for Education, Innovation and Talent Development Datuk Dr Annuar Rapaee, and Deputy Minister for Urban Planning, Land Administration and Environment Datuk Len Talif Salleh.
Immediately following the opening ceremony, Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi and Toh Puan walked alongside thousands of participants in a lively atmosphere that reflected the spirit of unity in conjunction with the Sarawak Day celebration.
He then took the time to visit the Sarawak Day 2026 Historical Exhibition before attending a morning tea reception at Sibu Kitchen.
At the event, Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi and Toh Puan were hosted at a reception alongside guests before receiving souvenirs in the form of a sampin and a keringkam shawl, presented by Sibu Division Community Leaders led by Temenggong Dato Sri Wan Hamid Edruce.
In the evening, Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi is scheduled to attend the Sarawak Day 2026 Gathering and People's Concert at the same location, which is also expected to be attended by the Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Datuk Abang Openg. — UKASnews
