Public Urged To Jointly Realise Sarawak's Development Agenda
SIBU: Sarawak requires stability, unity, and the support of all parties to ensure that the state's various strategic development agendas can be continued for the well-being of the people.
Federal Minister of Works, Dato Sri Alexander Nanta Linggi, stated that the various initiatives currently implemented by the state government—including the Post COVID-19 Development Strategy 2030 (PCDS 2030), hydrogen economy development, green energy, digital economy, rural development, and the execution of rights under the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63)—require the continuous commitment of all parties.
According to him, the planned development agendas will benefit all Sarawakians and must be sustained to ensure that the state remains competitive and prepared to face the changing global economic landscape.
“Under the leadership of the Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Datuk Abang Openg, so many policies and initiatives have been implemented for the future of our state.
“However, those achievements would mean nothing if we fail to defend the people's mandate and secure a solid mandate from the people,” he said when speaking at the Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Central Zone Special Convention here on Sunday.
The convention was officiated by the Sarawak Premier, who is also Chairman of Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS).
In the meantime, Dato Sri Alexander Nanta, who is also the Secretary-General of Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB), reminded the public to be more cautious when receiving information spread via social media, especially with the rapid advancement of communication technology and artificial intelligence (AI).
According to him, the spread of inaccurate or manipulated information can occur in a short period and has the potential to confuse the public if it is not verified beforehand.
“That is why I urge all of us not to easily believe what appears on social media. This is related to politics; verify and ensure the authenticity first and do not become agents in spreading false matters,” he explained.
Commenting on human capital development, Dato Sri Alexander Nanta said that Sarawak continues to practice an inclusive approach by offering opportunities to qualified local youths to contribute across various sectors, including the civil service, government-linked companies (GLCs), and strategic state agencies.
He said that this merit- and qualification-based approach enables more Sarawakians to hold key positions in various fields, thereby strengthening the state's capacity to execute its development agenda.
“In reality, the GPS Government always upholds the principle that every qualified Sarawakian will be given the opportunity to serve regardless of race.
“This has been Sarawak's formula for success all this while,” he added.
According to him, cooperation and mutual respect among various races form a vital foundation for Sarawak's success in implementing various development policies inclusively.
Also present were Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Amar Fadillah Yusof, Sarawak Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan, Sarawak Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas, members of the PBB Supreme Council, delegates, and PBB members from 24 Central Zone branches. — UKASnews
