MIRI: The Randau Komuniti Programme organised by the Sarawak Public Communication Unit (UKAS) serves as a platform to strengthen and expand two-way communication between government agencies and the community, especially in the delivery of authentic, accurate and up-to-date information.

UKAS Director Awang Putrayusrie Awang Redzuan said the programme gives the community a space to interact, share information and get clarification on various current issues including online fraud, health, education and government initiatives.

According to him, the community is encouraged to use official channels provided by government agencies to obtain accurate information and submit complaints, questions and suggestions.

"UKAS bears the responsibility to ensure that information related to policies, programmes, services, initiatives and government assistance to the community is presented clearly, accurately and up-to-date," he said.

He said this when officiating the UKAS Randau Komuniti Programme at Miri Division Level 2026 at Wisma Pelita, Miri, on Saturday.

He explained that the community is encouraged to follow the UKAS official platform to access the latest information on various government initiatives including education, health and assistance to the people.

Awang Putrayusrie said the programme also gave the community the opportunity to get information directly from relevant agencies, including the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM), the Health Office, the National Anti-Drug Agency (AADK) and other agencies.

"The public must always be alert to the risk of fraud that is becoming more prevalent in the digital world, in addition to taking immediate action by contacting the authorities if they become a victim.

“Scam issues frequently occur and are complicated to resolve, and that risk exists particularly in today’s digital world. Therefore we must be constantly reminded and made aware so as not to be a victim of fraud," he said.

He also called on students to take advantage of the various educational opportunities and initiatives provided by the Sarawak Government to develop their potential and plan for the future.

In a related development, Awang Putrayusrie shared that UKAS’ Miri office is now operating on the 11th floor of Wisma Pelita here.

Accordingly, he welcomed the community, students and department heads here to obtain information related to government programmes and initiatives at the UKAS office.

At the same time, he called for continued cooperation between government agencies and UKAS in expanding the delivery of authentic information to the public through various communication platforms.

Among the activities held during the Randau Komuniti programme were a briefing on scam issues by PDRM, depression (Department of Health), National Higher Education Fund Corporation (PTPTN) and Employees' Provident Fund (EPF).

Also open for viewing is the National Drug Exhibition (AADK) as well as related agencies and organisations, health screenings and quizzes for participants.

Also present were Subis District Office Administrative Officer Ananie Sharon Ricky Simpie, UKAS Principal Assistant Director (Management Section) Anwar Hanafi Ardimansyah, Miri Division UKAS Officer Dayang Norazela Hamdan, heads of department and local community leaders. -UKASnews
