Sarawak Space Agency Members Of Board Of Directors Finalised
KUCHING: The Sarawak Space Agency has finalised the appointment of its members of board of directors and is now in the process of finding a suitable individual to lead the agency as Chief Executive Officer (CEO).
Minister for Utility and Telecommunication Dato Sri Julaihi Narawi said that several applications for the position have been received and the selection process is underway.
"We have also established the Sarawak Space Agency under the ministry. This is the beginning and I have been made to understand that the members of the board of directors have been finalised.
"We are currently looking for a CEO. I think we have received several applications and we will appoint one before the end of the year," he said.
He said this when speaking at the opening ceremony of The Converged Telecommunications Policy and Regulations (CTPR) Masterclass 2026 here on Monday.
According to Dato Sri Julaihi, the establishment of the agency is part of Sarawak's efforts to expand its technological aspirations beyond the aspect of terrestrial connectivity to the development of aerospace and satellite capabilities.
He said the Sarawak Aerospace Advisory Council will play a role in providing strategic direction, coordinating institutional expertise and guiding the development of the sector in a responsible manner.
He added that the development of these capabilities will open up opportunities for Sarawak to explore the field of satellite communication, earth observation, remote sensing and geospatial applications.
It is also expected to help strengthen the delivery of public services, particularly in dealing with the challenge of Sarawak's vast geography. -UKASnews
