BETONG: Sarawak Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas led the XPDC 3.0 tour to Ulu Skrang, Ulu Entabai and Ulu Kota to inspect the condition of roads and infrastructure facilities in the interior regions on Thursday.
According to Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah, the expedition marks the third edition of XPDC, after the two previously carried out in Bario and the interior of Belaga.
"Today we will hold the third expedition. Previously we have held two XPDCs, the first to Bario and the second to the interior of Belaga. This time we will go to Ulu Kota, Ulu Skrang and Ulu Entabai," he said.
He said that among the main focuses of XPDC 3.0 is to assess the condition of former logging roads with the potential to be upgraded to connect rural areas that still do not have perfect road access.
"The condition of these log roads really needs to be upgraded. So today we went down ourselves with the technical team so that we can assess what can be done with these former logging roads," he said.
During the expedition, the group also inspected several infrastructure projects in Ulu Skrang including the Pinchoh road as well as Menggong Bridge and Penabun Bridge before continuing to Ulu Entabai and Ulu Kota.
In Ulu Kota, the delegation inspected the Proposed Project for the Construction and Completion of Link Roads and the Upgrade of Ulu Kota Road Phase 3 worth RM247 million.
The programme organised by the Sri Aman Public Works Department (JKR) took place from 12 to 13 August 2026 and involved technical teams and related agencies.
Also joining the expedition were Deputy Minister for Infrastructure and Port Development (MIPD) Datuk Ir Aidel Lariwoo, Sarawak JKR Director Datu Dr Cassidy Moris, Pakan Assemblyman Tan Sri Dato Sri William Mawan, Meluan Assemblyman Dato Rolland Duat, Lubok Antu Member of Parliament Roy Angau Gingkoi, Engkelili Assemblyman Dr Johnical Rayong Ngipa, MIPD Permanent Secretary Datu Chiew Chee Yau and Betong Division Resident Datu Richard Michael Abunawas. -UKASnews
