LAWAS: The need for better and safer basic facilities in rural areas continues to be focused on to ensure the well-being and comfort of the residents.
Sarawak Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan said that the actual situation on the ground must be examined to ensure that the implementation of the project takes into account local needs and conditions.
He said this during a working visit to the Kampung Merambai and Kampung Bukit Manang hall projects in Merapok, on Monday.
Among the matters given attention were the need for halls, churches and paved roads connecting the homes of residents in the two villages.
Datuk Amar Awang Tengah also emphasised the safety aspects of the electricity supply, particularly cables exposed to water and could potentially cause supply disruptions.
According to him, the implementation of the project must be thoroughly examined to ensure the facilities provided are safe, functional and beneficial to the residents.
Also present were Lawas Member of Parliament Dato Henry Sum Agong, Northern Region Development Agency (NRDA) Director Datu Ubaidillah Abdul Latip, Political Secretary to the Sarawak Premier Awangku Jinal Abedin Dato Pengiran Jawa and Lawas District Officer Ladin Atok. -UKASnews
