616 Applicants Benefit From B2 Licence Assistance Programme In Santubong
KUCHING: A total of 616 applicants from the B40 group in the Santubong Parliamentary constituency breathed a sigh of relief upon getting the opportunity to obtain Class B2 motorcycle driving licences through a special assistance programme channelled by the government.
Minister for Women, Family and Community Wellbeing Development and Member of Parliament for Santubong, Dato Sri Nancy Shukri, said participants were only charged RM250, compared to a cost of around RM750 if the licence were obtained privately.
"If they had to sit for the test on their own, it would require a significant expense of RM750.
"So with this, they get a special privilege — only RM250 — to help those in need," she said.
She said this when met by the media after officiating the Santubong Parliamentary Constituency's Class B2 Driving Licence Assistance Programme Presentation Ceremony, here, on Saturday.
According to her, the programme benefits the B40 group, comprising students, working individuals, as well as mothers and children who applied for the licence together.
Also present were Sarawak Road Transport Department (JPJ) Director Norizan Jili and Kuching Division Resident's representative Awang Yusup Awang Mustapha. -UKASnews
