KUCHING: The Bandar Baru Samariang Women Community Centre is set to serve as a hub for various women's development activities by providing spaces for skills training, entrepreneurship, education, welfare, and health.

Deputy Minister in the Premier’s Department (Project Coordinator for Regional Development Agencies, DBKU and Islamic Affairs) Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi said that the facility offers local women the opportunity to expand their skills and increase their involvement in community development.

According to him, the centre was established as a one-stop centre that can be utilised to execute a wide array of women's and community development programs.

“The facility was established as a one-stop centre for various women's development activities, including skills training, entrepreneurship programs, education, welfare, health, as well as community activities that can reinforce local community networks,” he said.

He said this when speaking at the Opening Ceremony of the Bandar Baru Samariang Women's Community Centre at the facility, on Sunday.

The Pantai Damai. Assemblyman noted that the construction of the centre was carried out through an allocation under the Pantai Damai Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) for 2025 at a cost of RM200,000, and was fully completed in May last year.

He expressed hope that the existence of the facility will open up more avenues for women to conduct activities that benefit themselves, their families, and the community.

Meanwhile, he hoped the centre would be utilized to its optimum potential through various programs that encourage active women's participation in local development.

According to him, the continuous involvement of women will also strengthen social networks, the spirit of cooperation, and unity among the Bandar Baru Samariang community. — UKASnews
