ILHAM Project Inspires SK Puruh Karu Pupils To Explore Education & Career Opportunities
PADAWAN: The ILHAM Project at Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Puruh Karu here has provided pupils with the opportunity to gain a better understanding of various education and career pathways that they can explore in shaping their future.
Deputy Minister in the Sarawak Premier’s Department (Law, MA63 and State-Federal Relations) Datuk Sharifah Hasidah Sayeed Aman Ghazali said early exposure of this nature was important in instilling confidence among pupils to set ambitious goals and view education as an important pathway towards success.
“Knowledge and experiences gained should not be kept to oneself, but should be shared and utilised to help the next generation,” she said.
She said this in her speech at the ILHAM Project Closing Ceremony at SK Puruh Karu here on Wednesday.
According to her, Sarawak students who are pursuing their studies overseas could serve as examples to the younger generation that academic success should be accompanied by a commitment to return and contribute to society.
She said the ILHAM Project, organised by the Sarawak Student Association – United Kingdom (SSA-UK) in collaboration with SABERKAS Samariang Branch and SABERKAS Mambong Branch, was not merely a motivational programme but also served as a platform to broaden pupils’ perspectives on education options and future career fields.
“Efforts such as this are crucial in opening pupils’ minds from their school years so that they are aware there are various education pathways and new fields that they can explore,” she said.
Meanwhile, Datuk Sharifah Hasidah stressed the importance of preparing the younger generation with knowledge and skills that align with the needs of the future economy, particularly in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM).
She said emerging fields such as hydrogen, solar energy and technology also offered extensive opportunities for Sarawak’s younger generation, in line with the state’s aspiration to become an advanced, prosperous and high-income state by 2030 and continue progressing beyond that period.
In this regard, she encouraged pupils not to give up easily or assume that certain opportunities were beyond their reach, but instead to continue learning, be willing to try and make full use of the opportunities available. -UKASnews
