Datuk Abdullah Visits Residence Of Photographer Affected By Storm
KUCHING: Deputy Minister in the Premier’s Department (Corporate Affairs, Information and UKAS) Datuk Abdullah Saidol paid a visit to the residence of local newspaper photographer Chimon Upon at Kampung Tabuan Dayak in Kuching on Wednesday, after his house was affected by a storm and heavy rain.
The incident, which occurred at about 3 PM on Tuesday, happened when roofing sheets from an apartment block located near Chimon’s residence were blown off by strong winds before crashing into part of his home.
The incident caused damage to the roof section of the house, while rainwater also entered the residence.
According to Chimon, his mother-in-law and child were inside the house during the incident, but neither sustained any injuries.
During the visit, Datuk Abdullah also inspected the condition of the house before presenting a contribution from the UKAS Club to Chimon to ease his burden following the incident as a sign of concern for the welfare of media practitioners.
Also present were Director of UKAS Director Awang Putrayusrie Awang Redzuan, UKAS Deputy Director Joachim Paggang Jabong, as well as UKAS Chief Assistant Directors Peter Sibon and Muller Asen. — UKASnews
