UNIFOR Grant Handed Over to Blessed Sacrament Church BDC For Building Upgrading Works
KUCHING: Kota Sentosa Assemblyman Wilfred Yap handed over a cheque from the Unit for Other Religions (UNIFOR) to the Parish Council of Blessed Sacrament Church on Friday to support the upgrading works of the church building.
The grant was made possible following the church’s application for funding assistance, which the Kota Sentosa Assemblyman had earlier supported and advocated for.
Wilfred Yap said he was pleased to see the application successfully receive the Sarawak Government’s support, reflecting Sarawak’s commitment to ensuring that places of worship across communities are properly supported and maintained.
“I am pleased to be able to hand over this UNIFOR grant to the Parish Council of Blessed Sacrament Church BDC. I had earlier supported the church’s application because I believe that our places of worship play an important role not only in spiritual life, but also in bringing communities together.”
He stressed that the upgrading of places of worship is part of Sarawak’s broader commitment to strengthening community infrastructure and ensuring that no community is left behind.
“This is what a Sarawak First approach is about — listening to the needs of our communities and working together to find practical solutions. Regardless of race or religion, every community deserves the opportunity to have safe, functional and conducive facilities.”
He also expressed his appreciation to the Sarawak Government and UNIFOR for continuing to provide assistance to places of worship throughout the State.
He congratulated the Parish Council and members of Blessed Sacrament Church BDC and wished them every success in carrying out the upgrading works.
“I hope this grant will help the church carry out the necessary improvements and provide a better environment for parishioners and the wider community for many years to come.”
Wilfred Yap reaffirmed his commitment to continue working closely with community and religious organisations in Kota Sentosa to facilitate assistance and development opportunities for the benefit of all. -- UKASnews
