SELANGOR: Sarawak para athlete Richard Bada completed a perfect campaign at the UiTM Stadium in Shah Alam, sweeping all three events he contested in the Para SUKMA Selangor 2026 men’s F41 category while setting two new Games records.
For Richard, the achievement was more than a personal triumph as he dedicated his success to his teammates and the people of Sarawak who have continued to support him.
"I feel very proud and happy to be able to break records in two events. The competition this time is quite fierce compared to the previous edition because there are many new challengers.
“I dedicate these three gold medals especially to my teammates and all of Sarawak,” he said after completing the men’s discus throw F41 event here on Tuesday.
The 33-year-old athlete from Kampung Segenam, Serian began his gold medal charge through the men’s shot put F41 event on 7 September with a record of 8.09 metres, not only securing the first gold for himself, but also breaking the previous tournament record.
Richard continued his dominant form later that night when he won the men's javelin throw F41 event with a distance of 22.85 metres, setting another tournament record.
His golden touch continued through the men's discus throw F41 where his 24.76-metre effort was enough to finish well ahead of his nearest challenger, Terengganu’s Ammar Zill Qayyim who recorded 20.08 metres, while Kelantan’s Nazhan finished third with 18.57 metres.
Making the achievement even more remarkable, Richard secured the three gold medals across three different disciplines, underlining his consistency and dominance in the throwing events throughout the Games. -UKASnews
