BETONG: Betong Division has been selected to host the Sarawak-Level National Sports Day 2026 (HSN2026), scheduled to take place from 16 to 18 October, with the main celebration to be held at Dewan Panglima Rentap on 17 October.

The organisation of HSN2026 serves as a crucial platform to cultivate an active, healthy and fit lifestyle among the community while also strengthening unity through participation in various sports and recreational activities.

In Sarawak, the programme has been rescheduled from the original national date out of respect for the Sarawak Governor's Official Birthday celebration on 11 October.

A total of 33 activities have been lined up, targeting an overall participation of about 21,000 people from all walks of life, including senior citizens, youths, women, children and persons with disabilities (PWD).

Among the highlights on the main celebration day are the HSN2026 opening ceremony, the five-kilometre Larian Ria Madani and the two-kilometre Berjalan Ria Madani.

A host of other activities have also been lined up including an aerobicthon, pickleball, Mobile Legends e-sports, darts, archery, sepak takraw, futsal, street soccer, walking football and recreational as well as traditional games.

The programme will also feature health-related activities including health checks and screenings, alongside interactive exhibitions by government agencies, sports industry exhibitions as well as sales and youth entrepreneurship activities.

The Sarawak-Level HSN2026 not only focuses on participation numbers but also on the quality of its implementation, safety and delivering a positive impact to the community. -UKASnews
