KUCHING: The Sarawakku Sayang Programme (SKS) Betong Division serves as a one-stop platform bringing together various government agencies to make it easier for the public to directly access information, services and assistance.

Betong Member of Parliament Dato Dr Richard Rapu said this approach allows the community to interact directly with relevant agency officials without having to visit individual departments or ministries separately.

“We should not view this programme merely as an entertainment event. Most importantly, it serves as a platform and a space for us to obtain information and services as well as interact with officials from the participating agencies,” he said.

He said this when appearing as a guest on the Juh Randau programme produced by the Sarawak Public Communication Unit (UKAS) at the UKAS Studio on Thursday.

According to him, the public can directly acquire information related to welfare, entrepreneurship, the economy, health, and education from relevant agencies throughout the event.

The hosting of SKS Betong also provides the community with an opportunity to gain closer insight into various government assistance schemes, facilities, and initiatives that can be utilised according to their respective needs.

In addition to government service delivery, the three-day programme offers diverse activities including Pentas Rakyat, Konsert Rakyat, Aero Dance and Stage Talent, giving the public a space to participate and showcase their talents.

40 lucky draw prizes are also up for grabs throughout the event, with a Perodua Bezza as the grand prize.

Other prizes include a Yamaha EGO motorcycle, an all-terrain vehicle (ATV), electrical appliances, gadgets, televisions as well as a 5-day 4-night vacation package to Kuala Lumpur.

The public from across Betong Division, including Kabong, Roban, Saratok, Pusa, Beladin, Meludam, Spaoh, Debak and Betong, are encouraged to attend with their families to take advantage of the various services and activities provided.

The Opening Ceremony of SKS Betong Division is scheduled for 26 September at 9 am at the Betong Sports Complex and will be officiated by Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Datuk Abang Openg.

After the opening ceremony, the Premier of Sarawak is also expected to conduct site visits to several high-impact projects in the Betong area, including the Spaoh Short Take-Off and Landing Airport (STOLport) and the Agro Park undertaking high-impact agricultural projects. -UKASnews
